AuctionMaster AuctionMaster

Summary

AuctionMaster’s mascot was used in various poses in a series of flyers.  The client specifically wanted a superhero body with a flatscreen television for a head — and were pleased with this.

info2eat.com info2eat.com

Summary

info2eat.com’s logo/mascot was a fun project.  The nameless gentleman depicted was used both online (in the website and promotional Flash movies) and also in print on membership cards.  Original pencil sketches were scanned and imported into Flash for cleanup.

Lunatic Media

Summary

Lunatic Media, a small publishing company, approached me to design a fun, bristly logo.  Playing off a pun on “lunar,” we agreed on this design.

Virginia Beach Minority Business Council

Summary

See this logo in a 30-second TV spot!

It was an honor to develop an official city logo.  The wave motif invokes Virginia Beach; the colors represent diversity.  My logo appeared in a 30-second television commercial to promote the Virginia Beach Minority Business Council.  Launch the video clip at right to take a look (approximately 980KB; may take several seconds to load).

VaBeachDems.com

Summary

I always enjoy a reason to use my cartooning skills.  This site ran for six years and humor was a significant factor of the site’s appeal.

The Writer’s Block

Summary

This is one sample from a series of concepts for a writer’s consulting firm.  I used obvious visual metaphors for a strong but elegant design, including a block and book fashioned from the W.

SmileyBerks.com

Summary

The gentleman responsible for SmileyBerks.com (no longer active) describes himself as a palindrome — a word or phrase that reads the same forwards and backwards, such as the famous “A man, a plan, a canal:  Panama!” — which is to say, he considers himself a straight shooter, no pretences.

According to his website, “Berks” is Tagalog slang for “friend”; “smiley” is clear.  I thought it would be fun to use the intitials S.B. in a palindromic way. Inspired by the artwork of Scott Kim, I designed the animation at right.

Keystone Staffing

Summary

Keystone was interested in a new logo, since I had developed a number of website designs for them.  This was one from the series (they decided to maintain brand consistency in the end and stayed with their existing logo).

Bayliner Bob

Summary

US Marine briefly considered a website mascot, something along the lines of Clippy, the Microsoft Office assistant.  The concept was eventually abandoned due to the cost of animating such a character, but this fellow was slated to be the one.

CoolFlow

Summary

CoolFlow, an engine coolant manufacturer, was looking for a tough mascot.  This character fit the bill (there’s a pun in there, somewhere).

MyHotrods.com

Summary

I designed the MyHotrods.com logo before I delved into its site design.  I especially had fun with the “muscle car” flames and chrome lettering.
